It was 1980 when Allen Lyle pushed his way into the construction scene…literally. His constant companion for a full year was a push broom, as he was the sole laborer for a residential builder in central Florida. In the years to follow, he would branch out into landscaping, framing, electrical, plumbing and painting; but not wanting to be boxed in, he studied the trade of a finished carpenter and became a skilled cabinetmaker.
As time progressed, he became adept in every facet of construction, and soon found himself as the job foreman for a large home builder in Valencia, CA. Upon returning to the Gulf Coast, Allen met Danny Lipford and that was the beginning of a longtime friendship.
Oddly enough, Allen’s background is heavily steeped in television and theatre, and he anchored the local NBC affiliate morning news program in Mobile for over five years. He is an award-winning actor, writer, director and song writer. With this unique blend of talent, it was only natural for him to work on-air with Danny in one of his earlier programs, Remodeling Today. In addition, Allen has worked as one of the producers for Today’s Homeowner with Danny Lipford®, as well as producing Danny’s appearances on The Early Show on CBS. As Today’s Homeowner® enters its 10th season, Allen takes on his newest role: Co-host. Allen readily admits, though, that while television and theatre may be his first love, his finest production is his daughter, Savannah Mae.
