We just finished taping an episode of Today’s Homeowner on remodeling a bathroom in my home, which gives me a chance to get Scott Gardner, our director and executive producer, in front of the camera for a change. And if you look closely, you can see our cameraman, Brad Rodgers, in the mirror.

It’s time, once again, to take down the Christmas tree; but first, I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
Visit to an Acrylic Block Plant
Danny's Blog, Home Improvement, Video by Danny Lipford
Recently I had a chance to visit a plant that makes acrylic blocks for use as a building material for your home. It was fascinating to watch them being made. Check out this video to see what I’m talking about.
On the Road
Danny's Blog, Video by Danny Lipford
I’m at the home of the Today’s Dream Kitchen Sweepstakes winner on a cold December day in Michigan. Next, I’m going on to Chicago for meetings then doing a segment for the CBS Early Show on fire safety that will air Thursday, December 23rd. It should be interesting, so be sure to watch.
Make Recycling Easy
Danny's Blog, Green Home, Video by Danny Lipford
Recycling is a great way to cut down on waste and help the environment, but the key is to make it easy so you’ll remember to do it. We recycle all our waste here at our office.
To make it easy, I keep three wastebaskets in my office, one for paper, one for cans and bottles, and one for any waste that can’t be recycled. So if you aren’t already recycling at work and at home, give it a try, just be sure to remember to make it easy!
Handy Andy Tool Kit Collection
Danny's Blog, Tools & Hardware, Video by Danny Lipford
Several years ago I started collecting old Handy Andy tool kits, like the one I had growing up. I now have over 20 of them on a shelf in my office, ranging from the 1950s to the 1970s, and they really bring back memories. I purchased most of them from eBay for $10 to $20 or received them as gifts. Some have never been used and are in perfect condition while others have seen a lot of use.
Getting Ready for Thanksgiving
Danny's Blog, Video by Danny Lipford
I’m looking forward to taking some time off to spend with my family on Thanksgiving. It’s been hard at times to find things to be thankful for over the past year, but they’re out there. I hope you and your family have a great Thanksgiving.
Video Blogging!
Danny's Blog, Tools & Hardware, Video by Danny Lipford
This is the first of my video blogs, where I’ll be giving you a peek at what goes on behind the scenes here at Today’s Homeowner and on my Homefront radio show.
Today I’m in our workshop where we shoot a lot of the segments for the show. It’s a real working shop that’s used by the carpenters in my construction company and for projects on the show. We keep a lot of tools and supplies on hand, including the first jigsaw I ever bought when I was in the 3rd grade for $11.31!
Check back soon for more of my video blogs.
The Art of Relaxing
Danny's Blog by Danny Lipford

This is something I’ve not figured out yet! I know all the rules about leaving your work at home, don’t call the office, do things on vacation that you never do, read a book . . . but I still find myself slipping into work mode.
Over the last few years, I’ve had the opportunity to take my wife and girls on some very nice vacations and it has always been a challenge to me to rest and relax. Usually after two to three days I start getting into the groove a bit, then as soon as I’m rested, my mind starts thinking about ideas for new shows, new web directions, segment ideas, expanding the brand . . . .
Recently we went on our summer vacation to the Turks and Caicos Islands and had one of our best trips ever. I almost relaxed, did a lot of diving, laughed for days with my family, ate some great food, and realized that these are probably the best days.
I think I enjoy what I do so much that I don’t “need” vacations as much as some people. That’s not a bad thing, but after this trip, I think I can get the hang of it.
