We’re going all out in our contest this month by giving away a Ryobi AIRgrip ProCross Self-Leveling Laser to each of the ten best Ask Danny video questions that are submitted during the month of December.

This unique laser level uses a battery powered vacuum pump to attach securely to wall surfaces. It can also be mounted on a tripod or simply placed on any flat surface. The Ryobi ProCross is self-leveling and projects a horizontal, vertical, or intersecting laser line up to 50’.

    I have a 1886 two story popular wood home. I want to seal up the cracks between the boards in the kitchen. I used wood putty and two years later they have cracked and I see the cracks again. Should I use a type of window caulk to put in the cracks and paint over it? Is there anything better?

    This may not fall under your area of expertise, but I have a bed made in the 1920s. It has a large burl wood headboard and footboard with wooden runners. The runners have metal holders to hold the bed. Since the mattress sets of today are of a different size I put wooden slats on the metal holder to set the mattress set on. The problem is that when sitting on the bed or turning at night the headboard (not the footboard makes a loud sound like something is falling. Can anything be done to eliminate this noise?

    We are having a hundred birthdays party at the Charleston House in Redlands California http://www.charlestonhouse1.com. In order to make the place look good I have panted sweet pea, which has soft texture and perfume, scent of California orange blossoms. The Daffodil and Iris should be ready for my fresh flowers arrangement thought out the Charleston house. My citrus trees will be in full bloom for the fragrance of citrus to me is one of the most intoxication aromas in California. I have 150 roses trees, snow and purple alyssum, 25 Bougainvillea with all color of pinks, bright reds and cream orange.
    What I would like to know what else should I plant that would be ready my spring?

    I have read your description for installing a pocket door. I want to place a pocket door on a bearing wall. There is a regular door there now and I want to place it in that space. I assume there is a header above that door and I believe that I must take that out and install a new header. The door is 32″ so the new opening will probably be 65 3/4. How do I stabilize the bearing wall until I get the new header and frame installed. Thanks
