I have been looking at various cabinets from the large known stores to the smaller outlet/close-out type stores. Creating an apartment over a garage and do not want any thing fancy or expensive, but worth the money. How can I tell the difference between particle board made cabinets and the "new engineered" wood cabinets? I have seen what I thought was particle board, was surprised, but wouldn't look at it twice, by virtue of reputation! Saw it mentioned on show today, Nov. 17 and read about it on this site.

How to tell the difference between the two types of particle board or "engineered wood" cabinets? At a knock off, outlet type store selling "B" grade ceramic tile, etc., the cabinets looked like particle board; with wood veneer end pieces available. Some were better made than others, better drawer hardware, lapped joints, etc. Maybe I need to look at some of these formerly discarded options a little closer.
Thank you, Deborah
