My husband wants to tile above our existing 4″ granite backsplash. I told him it’s not usually done that way. Can you give me advice. Thanks

We put little pieces of cut tile down on top of our laminate kitchen counter top. What kind of sealant should we use.

Judy It sounds like you need to have someone grout your backsplash. If the pieces are already down, I am not sure if you would use mastic again then regrout or what. I am not an expert on it…but I do know that there are times that people have to repair the grout. I would be more concerned as to why they were coming down, what were they adhered to? If they are coming down around an area that is wet then perhaps moisture has built up behind the tile causing it to fall off. If it wasn’t installed properly that could be an issue I would think. I may be wrong. I know our bathroom had that problem because the people before us didnt use cement board in the SHOWER and when the grout started to give way water got behind the tile and it was a mess…you dont want that to happen to you trust me.

We had a liminate applied to the wall behind our stove and countertop. When my husband took the laminate down, some of the paper from the wallboard came with the laminate leaving the wallboard needing repair for the application of ceramic tiles. Please give directions on how to accomplish this.

I am remodeling my kitchen and have the same problem as Julia had. When I pulled off the laminate some of the paper came off the wall board. Can I skim coat it with joint compound, prime it and then install my travertine backsplash? Or should I replace the sheetrock with cement backer board?

does anyone know if i can install a light-colored glass tile over my dark countertop-to-cabinet granite backsplash? tile over granite? anyone!? help!

We are about to bulid a house not sure what kind of tile backsplash would look good with maple cabinets and dark granate countertops. Any ideas would be great!
