Faux Graining Finishing Techniques for a Painted Mantle
Painting & Finishing, Video by Danny Lipford
Faux graining is a finishing technique that has been used for hundreds of years to give painted surfaces the rich look of expensive woods such as mahogany and rosewood. Special tools and techniques are employed to apply glazes and paints that replicate the color and pattern of natural wood.
In this video, decorative painter David Walton explains how he used graining to match a painted mantel to a natural wood pine cabinet.
