There are a lot of facets to this idea of living a more environmentally friendly life…. Conserving energy….conserving water…using materials from sustainable sources…but the one I like best is recycling. One of the labels you often see on recycled goods is “Post Consumer Recycling.” This is one of the greenest forms of recycling because the material has served it’s purpose…paper, cardboard, aluminum cans or plastic bottles…but instead clogging a landfill somewhere it’s being re-used. We’re saving landfill space, saving the energy used to acquire the raw materials, saving the materials themselves and creating something new and useful at the same time. So make the decision to recycle at home and then look for that “Post Consumer” label when you’re shopping for new items. If we each contribute a little now, we all win in the long run.
