Landscape lighting is one of the best ways to welcome guests along the front walk of a home or create a great atmosphere around the patio after the sun goes down. These low voltage or solar powered lights are easy to install but over time they will need some maintenance. Often, the low voltage fixtures will stop working because corrosion builds up on the metal contacts inside the bulb socket. You can remedy this by removing the corrosion with a small piece of sand paper or an emery board and spraying some electrical contact cleaner into the socket. The Solar powered models are less prone to this problem since most use Light Emitting Diodes instead of bulbs. However, you may have to replace the batteries inside the fixture that store the power generated during daylight hours. Depending on the manufacturer, the replacement may be something as simple as a rechargeable AA battery.
