Like any other system in your home, the air conditioner needs occasional maintenance to keep operating properly. So, it’s always smart to identify small problems before they become big ones. If the unit outside your house – the condenser – is making more noise than usual, it may be that the fan blade is hitting an obstacle or an access panel is loose. If the fan is clear and the panels are secure, call a technician and have the unit checked since the motor could be going out. A loud rumble inside, at the air handler, may also indicate a bad motor but it could simply be a belt that needs replacing. Water under or around the air handler likely means the condensation drain line has backed up and it needs to be cleaned out with a bleach solution in order to run freely.
