When environmental topics come up it’s usually not long until people start talking about harnessing the power of the sun and there are some great ideas and products out there. There are solar panels to generate electricity for our homes, solar water heaters to keep our showers steamy and even solar landscape lights to brighten up the yard. But all of these require some special equipment and a fair amount of technology. Here’s a low tech option…the clothesline. Line drying clothes uses no electricity what-so-ever, the UV rays of the sun actually help sanitize the laundry and the fresh smell is unbeatable. If you want to start small just try line drying your towels and bed linens. Besides reducing your carbon footprint you’ll also be reducing your utility bill and that’s something everyone can use.
