This time of year starting the day with a hot shower becomes more and more important but if your old water heater has trouble keeping up it can be a miserable existence. Some people turn up the unit’s thermostat to compensate but that can be dangerous for bathers and painful on utility bills. Consider draining the heater to remove sediment and improve efficiency or have a pro check the efficiency of the burner or elements. If it’s time for a new water heater consider one that offers improved efficiency without sacrificing constant supply. For example the Vertex 100 from A.O. Smith provides 100 thousand BTUs of heating power at 96 percent efficiency. That means it provides you with an awful lot of hot water but uses very little natural gas to do it.
