If you’re decorating the house for Christmas this weekend, don’t forget about safety in all the activity. If you’re hanging lights outside be sure that they are designed for outdoor use. If you find broken bulbs or nicks in the wires of the strings you have…discard them and get new ones. Your safety is worth a few dollars difference. Any extension cords and power strips should also be rated for exterior use and plugged into a GFCI protected outlet. Chances are that you may find your self on a ladder for this project, so please pay attention to that sign that says “do not stand on or above this step, ” it’s there for a reason. Even if it takes longer, move the ladder frequently so you don’t unbalance it by reaching out too far.
