Those gardeners who are planting their seeds inside right now aren’t just bored…They’re getting a jump on Spring. Planting seeds is much more cost efficient than buying seedlings a month or two from now, but since the ground isn’t warm enough yet to germinate the seeds… the solution is inside gardening. Seeds are relatively cheap, and it’s rewarding to spend a buck or so and have dozens of transplants for the garden early in the growing season. Seasoned gardeners will stagger their indoor plantings at intervals of a week or so, since the very first transplants into the garden could be hit by the last frost or two. If all goes well, you’ll get a head start on the season with healthy plants well before disease, bugs and vermin become active… and you can start enjoying your fresh produce that much sooner.
