No matter how healthy you are, when it really gets hot it’s important to take precautions to stay safe. Those simple weekend chores that you enjoyed back in May, can lead to serious overheating now. So limit your strenuous activity during the hottest time of the day and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun. If you are working outside take plenty of breaks to cool off and drink lots of water. Try to avoid caffeine and alcohol while you’re out in the heat because they cause dehydration. Don’t ignore signs of nausea, dizziness and fatigue… cool off immediately. Plan your day’s chores so you’re in areas of shade and make sure you wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing. Finally, try to eat light meals and avoid turning on the oven or stove. Hey, It’s a great time to grill!
