We asked the experts at John Deere for some safety tips for outdoor power equipment… these are a few of their suggestions… First; always use full eye protection to guard against flying debris. Second; the loud noises made by these tools can be uncomfortable or objectionable, so you should also wear earmuffs or earplugs when you’re using them…especially string trimmers, blowers and chain saws. Third; Loose clothing can snag on controls and get caught in moving parts, so tuck in your shirttail; avoid wearing jewelry or unbuttoned, long-sleeved shirts and keep long hair safely secured. Speaking of clothes… long pants and closed-toe shoes with traction soles are a must when working with outdoor power equipment. And don’t forget your hands; wear gloves with a non-slip grip for operating or servicing the equipment.
