A sure sign that spring and summer are here is the appearance of grills on decks, patios, and backyards across the country. May is National Barbeque Month and today more Americans are lighting their grills that ever before so it’s especially important to remember that a successful barbeque is a safe barbeque. First, remember that grills are designed for outdoor use only. Never barbeque inside a tent, house, garage, or any enclosed area because that can lead to a deadly accumulation of carbon monoxide. Set up the grill in a well ventilated area that’s away from buildings, overhead combustible surfaces or dry landscaping. It’s also important to make sure that the grill isn’t left unattended while it’s hot and there’s always a fire extinguisher close by. Now, get busy and grill safe this year.
