What’s the source for the moisture that’s permeating your home? The toilet, shower, wash basins, kitchen sink, dishwasher and stove are only a few sources. Even breathing puts moisture in your home! Without proper ventilation to the outside, water vapor accumulates day after day. This moisture is more than an annoyance because it can do real damage to the materials your home is made from. And what’s equally important is that it can generate the growth of unhealthy mold. Ventilation is the key solving this problem because it exhausts stale, moist air so it can be replaced with fresh dry air. In the kitchen, a good vent hood will do the trick but only if you use it every time you cook. Every bathroom should be equipped with an exhaust fan. The packaging of these fans rates them in CFMs, or cubic feet of air per minute that they move, and tells you how many square feet of space they will adequately vent.
