If you’ve ever worked with drywall joint compound, Spackle or similar products, you know that they have a tendency to dry out between jobs. The resulting lumpy mess is practically useless, not to mention a waste of good money. So here’s a way to keep that from happening. First, use a putty knife to level the top of the material inside the container. Then add just a few drops of water on top of it. Next, cut a piece of kitchen plastic wrap to the size of the container and lay it on the top of the compound or Spackle before you seal up the container. The plastic wrap will catch the moisture evaporating from the joint compound and keep it from drying out so it’s ready for the next job.
