A backsplash behind the countertops in your kitchen not only protects the wall from stains and grease, but it serves to accent the cabinets as well. Tile is the most common backsplash material.

To give a tile backsplash an extra decorative touch, consider inserting a mosaic pattern in the tile. Mosaic accent tiles, like those from JEM Expressions, can be custom imprinted with a wide variety of images including works or art or photographs.

A less common option for a kitchen backsplash is installing vertical wooden beadboard between the countertops and hanging cabinets. This material can be either painted or stained and finished to give your kitchen a rustic country look.
