We sent over 33 million pounds of batteries to landfills every year in the U.S. which contain potentially hazardous waste. Replacing disposable batteries with rechargeable ones is good for the environment and can save you money. Rechargeable batteries are available to fit devices like toys, flashlights, cameras, and other electronic devices.

Batteries sure have come a long way in the last 20 years. From heavy duty to copper tops to lithium ion, just like the ones used in these cordless power tools. But if you really want to make a green difference in the world, you need to make the switch to rechargeable batteries.

The Environmental Protection Agency recently concluded that the average U.S citizen disposes of eight batteries each year. Multiply that by the number of people in the country and you come up with a whopping 2-BILLION batteries that get dumped.

If you replaced only 10 percent of those batteries with rechargeables, like these, you’d keep 33-million pounds of batteries out of the landfills, and if you’re one of those people who use a lot of batteries, you could save yourself about $800 over the lifetime of a rechargeable battery.

So help protect the environment and save some cash, seems like a bright idea to me.
