Recycling is an important way to conserve our resources and help the environment, but recycled materials can also be used to produce quality products for your home. Composite decking and fencing, such as that from Fiberon, are made in part using high density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic from recycled milk jugs and other plastic containers.

I’ve talked about some of the things you can make with milk jugs, like seed and grain scoops, bird feeders, and piggy banks. But if you really want to make a dent in keeping milk jugs out of the landfill, try using over 28,000 for just one project! That’s about how many it would take to make a fence for your backyard.
Most milk jugs are made from High Density Polyethylene or HDPE. You can tell by this little symbol on the bottom of the jug. This is the type of plastic used to make some composite fencing material, and some companies have got this down to an art form. What you wind up with is a fence that looks and feels like wood, won’t rot or decay, and it’s virtually maintenance-free.
So the next time you polish off a gallon of moo juice, make sure you recycle the jug. It may be used to keep the cows in their place!

This is exactly what I was looking for. We just demolished our old wooden deck and want to put up a composite deck from recyclables and keep from having to stain it. This is the second time someone said something about Fiberon and I really love this Decking.
