For a DIY-friendly, grout-free, tile floor that’s easy to install, consider Cliks from the Daltile Campisi collection. The porcelain tile surface has a polyurethane backing that allows the individual tiles to lock together to form a floating tile floor without the need for messy adhesives.

Cliks tile can be installed over existing tile, linoleum, and hardwood floors, as well as concrete and plywood subfloors. Cliks can be installed in any interior area—including entry halls, kitchens, bathrooms, and basements—that isn’t exposed to standing water.

Cliks tiles are available at The Home Depot.

Danny Lipford: Over at the daltile booth . . .

Allen Lyle: I hate cleaning grout.

Woman: I know.

Allen: I cleaned it just the other day.

Danny: Allen has found another interesting innovation.

Allen: What is this?

Woman: This is Cliks floor tile, that’s part of our Campisi collection. No grout, no mortar, it’s basically a floating tile floor. You simply click the tiles together.

Allen: True porcelain.

Woman: True porcelain.

Allen: Look on the back here. This is polyurethane?

Woman: It is a polyurethane backer. You know, this is what they make bowling balls out of, so it’s really heavy duty.

Allen: I’m not doing any bowling in my kitchen, am I?

Woman: No, let’s hope not.

Allen: All right. Let me show you how easy this is though. Put it together, snap, that’s it. I love this, the grout is already in there. I don’t even see the line, so now I don’t have to put the backerboard, I don’t have to put the mastic down, I don’t have to do the grout. I’ve done an entire kitchen, in one afternoon.

Woman: In one afternoon, it is that simple.
