Installing energy efficient windows on your home can significantly lower your heating and cooling costs. Consider these features when choosing new window for your home:

  • Dual Pane Glass: Dual pane windows have two or more panes of glass separated by a gap that acts as an insulating buffer between the outside and inside of your home.
  • Low-E Coating: This almost invisible coating can be applied to the window to reduce the heat transferred through the glass and make it the window more efficient. There are two types of low-E coating available, depending on whether you live in a warm or cold climate, so be sure to select the proper low-E coating for your area.
  • Vinyl Window Frames: The frames for windows can be made of wood, aluminum, or vinyl. While wood has the highest insulating properties, it is also the most expensive. Vinyl window frames make a good choice since they’re less expensive than wood, are low maintenance, and have better insulating qualities than aluminum.
