To reduce heating and cooling costs, consider having foam insulation sprayed in the walls and between the rafters in the attic. This can reduce heating and cooling by as much as 70%. The added cost of foam insulation can be recouped by energy savings in three to five years in new construction.

Like a lot people a the moment I am looking at insulating my house. I thought good R rated batts would be the go, but I have been shown Reflective batts triple layer silver linned that are collapsable to transport & unfold in the ceiling to insulate, they seem to be made out of silver linned thin cardboard. With an R6.4 rating from http://www.solarwise.com.au
