Heart Pine from the Kuppersmith Project House
By: Danny LipfordIn categories: Danny's Blog, Kuppersmith, Video
Nowadays, yellow pine is the most common material used in conventional wood construction. In pulling out the old wood from The Kuppersmith Project, we found heart pine.
It’s much heavier than yellow pine, and it can really dull a saw blade. The tar in it also makes it extremely flammable. The hardwood floors throughout the home were made from strips of this wood. In order for us to have the wood we need for the areas we’re adding on, we’re going to have to do a lot of sawing on this wood, and more.
