Here are some tips to save energy and lower your utility bills when using the hot water heater in your home:

  • Lower the thermostat on your hot water heater to 120° F.
  • Insulate the hot water pipes coming from your hot water heater as well as elsewhere in your home.
  • Drain a bucket of water from your hot water heater several times a year to remove sediment and allow it to work more efficiently.

    ive been pondering the idea of building a box painted flat black covered in glass for my roof filled with copper tubing also black for solar assistance for my wh by hitting the box before releasing cold wtr into heater any comments or ideas? seems to me that this water during the day would be exteremly super heated
