There are many materials that can be used to create a walkway or path in your yard including stone, brick, gravel, and concrete.WalkMaker® concrete forms from Quikrete are a DIY-friendly way to pour a concrete path and are available in several patterns that mimic brick and stone.

To lay a path using the WalkMaker, simply position the form, fill with concrete, then move the form to the next position. By repeating this action you’ll be able to create a pathway of any length. Here’s how to go about it:

1. Determine the location of the path and remove any existing grass or obstacles.
2. For extra support, add a layer of gravel before pouring the concrete.
3. The concrete can be colored by mixing Quikrete colorant with the water before adding it to the concrete mix (we added “buff” colorant).
4. Place the WalkMaker on the path, and fill the form with a stiff concrete mix.
5. Use a trowel to pack the concrete in the form and a screed to smooth the concrete level with the top.
6. To give the concrete a nonslip textured finish, go over the top of the wet concrete with a brush or broom.
7. Pull up the form and smooth the edges of the concrete using a damp trowel.
8. Reposition the form and repeat these steps until the desired length of the walkway is achieved.
9. When the concrete has hardened, pour a dry polymer modified sand mix like Quikrete PowerLoc™ Jointing Sand on the joints, and use a broom to sweep it into the cracks between the stones.
10. Apply water to the jointing sand to harden it, using a spray nozzle on a garden hose.
11. Be sure the jointing sand has set before using the walk.

   This is a great video, very informative. We are making a walkway with the European brick template and dyed concrete. We are having trouble with having too much liquid (water) on the top of the concrete. Do you know what causes that? How do I remove the excess water?
