Kitchen renovation often involves removing the existing kitchen countertops and replacing them with new ones. This can be a difficult in older homes, since plastic laminate countertops were often constructed on site and nailed to the walls and cabinets.

The countertops in this kitchen took a good bit of persuading to pry them loose. Once they had been removed, new plastic laminate countertops were screwed in place from underneath, and a 22” x 33” hole cut for the sink using a jigsaw.

The backsplash was glued to the wall and countertop with special braces to hold it in place while the adhesive set. Finally, a new stainless steel double sink and faucet was installed to complete the job. Removing and replacing the countertops was completed in a single day at a cost of $500.
