Framing the walls on a sunroom can be a challenge, since the large number of windows and doors allows for little structural support. Here are some steps that I like to take to reinforce and strengthen the framing when building a sunroom:

  • I like to use 2×6 studs instead of 2x4s to add to the strength increase the space allowed for insulation.
  • I also cover the outside with 1/2″ plywood sheathing to provide extra strength in the corners.
  • To increase wind resistance, I embed bolts in the concrete slab for angle brackets which are then attached to the corner posts.
