There sure are some creative people in the world. This is a flower made from an aluminum can. I know there are a lot of things you can make from these cans, but the very best thing you can do is recycle them. Aluminum cans are 100% recyclable – indefinitely – and it’s the only beverage container that more than covers the cost of its own collection and re-processing. It seems to really be catching on, too. Last year, Americans recycled over 54 billion aluminum cans. The best part is that recycling saves energy that otherwise would have been spent to manufacture new materials. Look at it this way: recycling just 40 aluminum cans has the energy-saving equivalent of a gallon of gasoline. Divide that into last year’s 54 billion cans recycled, and you have the energy savings of over 15 million barrels of oil. So next time you finish that soft drink, do the right thing. Recycle.
