The best way to reinforce the framing in a home or other building against wind damage is to link all the parts of the framing to the foundation. I’ve found that a good way to do that is to embed a metal strap into the concrete foundation while it’s being poured. The strap is then run all the way up to the roof and attached to the wall studs and rafters.
