There are a number of options available for adding a new shower to your home, including:

  • One-Piece Fiberglass Unit: Since the shower and surround consist of a single unit, they’re easy to install and reduce the change of a leak. However, it can be hard to fit a one-piece unit through existing doorways and around corners.
  • Fiberglass Shower Pan with Separate Surround: You can also buy a shower pan and install the walls around it separately. This makes fitting through doorways easy, but it increases the chance of leaks, so be sure to caulk all seams.
  • Cultured Marble Shower and Surround: Cultured marble is thicker and stronger than fiberglass. It comes in standard size sheets, which can be cut to the size desired. Custom features, like a shower seat or shelf, can be easily added.
  • Tile Shower and Surround: Tile takes more work than the other options above, but the result is worth it. Mosaic tile patterns are available in sheets to make installation easier.
