We installed a 20 kW Generac standby, whole house generator at the Kuppersmith Project house as a way to provide electrical power to the home in the event of a power outage.

The Generac whole house generator runs on natural gas, so the fuel supply never has to be refilled. The standby generator employs an automatic transfer switch that turns the generator on and switches the home’s power over automatically within seconds of the power going out.

Since the Kuppersmith Project house is in a neighborhood with overhead power lines, which are susceptible to damage from storms and high winds; and it’s located in Mobile, Alabama, right on the Gulf Coast where hurricanes are a fact of life; a standby backup generator provides peace of mind in the event of an extended power outage.
