Painting contractor Steve Carey, of CertaPro Painters, gave some tips on how his crew went about painting the exterior of the Kuppersmith Project house. Here’s how they tackled the big job with many different surfaces:

  • Caulk nail holes and joints around the exterior of the house.
  • Prime surfaces that will be painted – both wood and composite – using a quality, oil-based primer.
  • Apply two topcoats of a quality, exterior latex house paint to all painted surfaces.
  • Spray one coat of semitransparent stain on the cypress shakes on the house.
