Painting around windows has to be one of the most frustrating chores known to man. How do you paint the wood without painting the glass?

The answer is, you don’t. You simply find an efficient way to clean the glass off afterward. Here’s how:

  • If the paint has already dried, use a 6″ drywall knife as a shield along the window edge and scrape off the excess paint with a razor scraper. The drywall knife will allow you to leave a small sliver of paint on the edge of the glass to seal the wood.
  • If the paint isn’t dry yet, wrap a cotton rag around a square edged putty knife and push toward the wood edge wiping up the paint.
